Steven G. Strickland, P.E., LEED APPresident
Steve is the President of The EARTHWORKS Group, Inc. and has over 3 decades of diverse engineering experience covering civil infrastructure, environmental design and permitting, and building construction. He has worked with several state and federal agencies, as well as in private industry and the consulting arena in several areas of expertise, including environmental and civil engineering, infrastructure, and building design.

Steve has been involved in the planning, design, permitting, and construction of buildings, infrastructure, residential communities, and coastal recreational facilities throughout the Southeast. He is a licensed General Contractor and Construction Manager in South Carolina and has extensive knowledge with the design and construction of building structures. He is a native of the South Carolina coast, and has traveled extensively throughout the Southeast states exploring recreational opportunities (fishing, hunting, boating, hiking, diving, and surfing).

Mr. Strickland has specific environmental expertise with coastal nonpoint pollution, NPDES programs, wetlands and hazardous waste management and has been admitted as an expert witness by SC and Federal courts in the field of environmental engineering for cases involving riverine flooding, wetland impacts, stormwater permitting, septic tank design, and drainage system design. He has also worked with sustainable design projects, including green building, low impact design (LID) stormwater systems, and created wetland systems for stormwater management.

Mark H. Donevant, CEPCSICivil Team Leader
Mark is a native of Myrtle Beach and a graduate of both Horry Georgetown Technical College and Coast Carolina University. His previous experience as a forester at Canal Forest Resources and an inspector with SCDHEC brings an environmental focus to the design of new projects. Mark has extensive experience in representing clients before the regulatory community, especially with South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) and Horry County Engineering and Planning offices for land development projects. Mark has been a Construction Manager for The EARTHWORKS Group on large projects for over 15 years and has developed relationships with local contractors and regulators that keep the projects moving forward smoothly.

Mark was the first employee to join The EARTHWORKS Group and has grown with the company. His technical experience ranges from construction management services, civil infrastructure design to storm water assessment and hydrology. He has been involved in projects of all magnitudes from individual commercial sites to the large multi-phase communities. He provides design supervision for all phases of civil and environmental work including storm water systems, water and sewer systems, road construction, and permitting for municipal and private development projects.

Mark has significant expertise in the assessment of wetlands and drainage, including the modeling of large watersheds for the design of drainage improvements and establishment of flood elevations. His work on the Simpson Creek Watershed Study has been approved by FEMA and published on the Streamline Technologies website for establishment of base flood elevations in an unnumbered “A” zone. He has also created large watershed models for a major portion of the Town of Surfside Beach and the Gates and The Lakes subdivisions for the purposes of drainage improvements and flood reduction.

Chris J. Hammel, P.E., LEED APVP, FL Office
Mr. Hammel is an accomplished Engineering Leader with more than 15 years’ experience with building systems and commercial construction.  His experience includes managing design teams and projects covering residential, commercial and industrial building construction.  He has a diverse technical background with more than 15 years of engineering experience, ranging from building design projects to project management.  He has also worked with sustainable design projects, including green building and LEED projects.

Building Team Leader at The EARTHWORKS Group, Port St. Lucie, FL.  Mr. Hammel is responsible for engineering and planning for all projects within the Building Design Team.  His team provides multi-disciplinary design solutions for public and private sector clients, including commercial, industrial, institutional and residential clients.  His duties include mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design for all building projects, management of building team resources, and planning and scheduling projects for clients.  He is responsible for negotiating service contracts with clients and maintains P&L responsibility in conjunction with the financial team.  He is responsible for bringing in new business via business development and consultative sales with existing clients.  He provides project management, technical support, training and construction document development for new and existing projects.

Sandy AndersonClient Services
Sandy Anderson is The Earthworks Group, Client Service provider.  She has over 30 years of experience in establishing, maintaining, and building client relationships.  She has over 15 years experience with an architectural firm and understands how important teamwork is when coordinating projects with clients and contractors.

Prior to coming to Earthworks, Sandy was employed with Farmers Telephone Coop in Sumter, SC, where she coordinated communications between upper management, district employees and members.

Rick DuvallProject Manager
Rick is a Project Manager at The EARTHWORKS Group, Inc. and has over 30 years of experience with the design, permitting, and construction of residential and commercial buildings.  He has worked as a building contractor in South Carolina which brings a hands-on experience into his building design expertise.

Rick has been involved in the planning, design, permitting, and construction of residential and commercial buildings and recreational facilities throughout North and South Carolina.  He has extensive knowledge with the design and construction of wood framed building structures and project management experience that allows him to troubleshoot difficult design and construction projects.

Dillon H. Callaham, EITStructural Engineer
Dillon is a Structural Engineer Intern with the EARTHWORKS Group assisting with engineering services for the building department, including foundation and structural design, structural calculations, code review, and drafting.  Dillon comes to us with an education in Civil Engineering and project management experience in commercial construction for municipalities and medical facilities.
Krassi IvanovArchitectural Designer
Krassi is an Architectural designer at the EARTHWORKS Group, Inc. She is originally from Bulgaria, where she graduated from the University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. She has 25 years experience with structural and architectural detailing and development. Krassi moved from Cincinnati, OH where she worked with Burgess and Niple, Champlin and Haupt architects and has been involved in design of hospitals, schools, churches etc.
Trudy SmithPermit Manager
Trudy has been with The EARTHWORKS Group for over 14 years. Her range of experience includes but is not limited to permitting civil work including Stormwater, water, wastewater, entrance drives and utility encroachments with various city, county and state agencies.  She is responsible for completing all applications and ensuring that required submittals are complete on the administrative level. She maintains records of all submittals and follows up with technical staff to insure timely submittals. She coordinates with local, state and federal agencies for all permitting issues. She has administrative oversight responsibility for  the preparation of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) as directed by state/federal  agencies to comply with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) as stated in  the 2012 Construction General Permit.

Prior to coming to EARTHWORKS, Trudy worked in the construction field handling administrative duties associated with road construction, commercial building, and residential building.  Her responsibilities included dealing directly with local, state and federal agencies on permitting and close-outs.

Dawn P. Tullock, CPAController
Dawn is the CFO/Controller of The EARTHWORKS Group Inc with over 20 years of experience of managing financial statements and budgets for corporations.  Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Dawn moved to North Carolina upon graduating from the University of Missouri – St. Louis with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration emphasizing in Accounting.  She graduated Magnum Cum Laude and was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Professional Fraternity. She is a Certified Public Account with licenses in both North and South Carolina.

Dawn has extensive experience in land development, tax law and accounting. Her experience includes working as a CPA for developer clients, the AVP/Controller for a Land Development company (with over 60 projects at different stages of development at the same time), and with EARTHWORKS.

Dawn has been with EARTHWORKS for almost 10 years, starting out as part- time and moving into her current full time role as CFO/Controller.  She manages all aspects of the finance and budgeting (A/P, A/R, forecasting) and also handles all aspects of human resources as well as managing our 401(k) Profit Sharing Plan.

Terri CarboneContract Manager
Terri is the Contract Manager at THE EARTHWORKS GROUP, INC. and has over 25 years of experience in finance, office management, and marketing. Her experience originates from chemical and software companies like, EMD Chemicals (MERCK) and Conexo, to law firms like, Neill Law Firm and Floyd Law Firm here in the Inlet.
